Outstanding results "Jugend Musiziert" Competition round 1 and 2

Unbelievable! Jonas
(12 years old, AG III)

did it. After particularly strict rules were introduced in 2026 for qualifying for the national finals—only participants with 25 out of 25 points qualify—even former national prize winners were not selected. Jonas was one of only two (!) in a highly competitive and talented age group to advance to the national finals in Munich. Congratulations!!!

The new rules for Jugend Musiziert have a downside. The pressure on our talented young musicians has increased once again.  Highly accomplished young pianists  missed out on the chance to compete in the national competition due to minor musical “criticisms” that are purely a matter of interpretation. One positive change is the introduction of a first prize at the state level without advancement to the next round. This can be motivating and provide a fairer reflection of performance. But setting the threshold at 25 points—that needs to be adjusted.

“I think it's great that Simone gives us tasks in the workshops where we work together as a team on a new piece. That way, we can support each other and discover for ourselves what's behind the piece.”

"My son Jonas has been at this music school for almost five years. The competitions and concerts have made him much more confident. I particularly like the fact that he has made lots of friends here and enjoys spending time at the music school, rehearsing, eating pizza, or playing chess. Jonas also thinks it's great that he can learn so much from the older students, not only about playing the piano, but also about school stuff."
